Week 35: Alexandria, VA

¡Hola a todos!

This week went by fast (like always) but it was super good!

We have transfers this week, so we've been doing everything like it's the the last time we'll do it. I think I'm going to stay here in Alexandria, but I'll probably be getting a new comp. But normally I have a feeling of what's going to happen before transfers but I know no idea, so we will see!!

Highlights from this week:

Thursday we had English class. Normally we have a few people come, but we ended up with 12 people in our class! It was really fun, and I feel like I always fended up learning more Spanish from them jaja. They also love to make fun of me and the fact that I still can't roll my r's, but at least I CAN speak English so HA!
Just kidding they are the best I love Latinos <3

Saturday our apartment complex was throwing a "Valentines Brunch" so we decided to check it out. I don't think I've ever mentioned the apartment complex that I live in, but it's pretty boujie. We have a parking garage, it's lockout, and it has a really nice lobby area that has a club room too. Anyways, we went to this brunch had we never felt so out of place lol. Everyone who lives here is really hipster and edgy, and so us walking in as two white girls in dresses was really funny. We went to the food table, and saw that they were serving alcohol, so we grabbed some food and snuck out of the brunch. It was quite an experience.

Saturday night we went to the QuinceaƱera of a girl in our ward. It was basically a ward activity because everyone was invited and it was in the church. It was my first QuinceaƱera that I have been to, and it was quite an experience. The whole ceremony itself was cute, and I loved her dress, she just has a grandpa that came who isn't a member of our church, and anytime he would see any of us missionaries at the fiesta, he would hardcore Bible Bash us. So we definitely tried to steer clear of hum the whole time. Overall I would rate the fiesta 7/10.

Sunday night we visited a reference from someone in Utah, and we knocked on the front door, when this short little Indian lady pressed her face against the window try to see who we were. We thought it was a little weird, but then a guy opened another window and yelled at us, asking why we were there. We said that we were looking for Bruno, and he said that he was around back in the basement. We were almost going to leave because they really scared us, but we decided to go around back and knock on the door. Bruno answered the door, and his wife came out of the other room to meet us. They invited us inside, and I actually think the are one of the cutest families that I have ever met. The are from Bolivia and have two children and they are so lindo.

I know that sometime things happen that make us scared or push us away, but if our faith and trust is in God, we can have the strength and courage to do anything, and we will also see so many miracles.

I love you all so much, have a great week!!
