Week 13: Stirling, VA

 Hola!!

This week was transfer week... I'm staying in Sterling with my trainer Hermana Haynie!!! I'm super excited for what this transfer holds and to be in this amazing area.

Highlights from this week:

On Tuesday, we went out to dinner with a recent covert and his mom who is visiting from Peru. She was so sweet and she brought us all Peru merch!! I got an authentic Peruvian poncho, and it's actually my favorite thing ever. Later that day we had intercambios(exchanges) and I was with Hermana Rapp. We both got ponchos so we decided to wear them the rest of the night lol.

Wednesday, was our last district counsel of the transfer, so naturally we had to make a cake. I'm pretty proud of how it turned out haha. Also my district is so awesome, and we're all staying together for this next transfer as well!! It's super rare that none of us got transferred, but I'm not complaining!

On Friday, we had a lesson with our friend Abdel, who's from Morocco!! I don't remember if I've mentioned him before in my emails, but he's so awesome. He speaks Arabic, Spanish, and French, and is trying to learn English. He grew up Muslim, but left the religion awhile ago, and now he wants to learn more about Christianity. It's super cool how we have to start with teaching the very basic beliefs about Jesus Christ because he has no previous knowledge.

Right when the lesson was over, we asked him if he wanted to say the closing prayer. He was a little nervous, but we taught him how to do it, and he ended up saying the most simple, sweet, sincere prayer ever. After he said amen, he put his hands to his face and looked like he was going to cry. He said, "I've never felt this way before." It was super powerful, and I feel super privileged to have been able to experience Abdels first interaction with God, and how he felt the spirit so strongly. Prayer really is such a powerful thing.

On Saturday, we got a call from the AP's... the wanted us to give our car to another area who needed one. So, we are officially back to walking. I'm just praying that we will be able to make it through this 100 degree week, and the temperature goes down after that. It's hard not having a car, but I know God will strengthen us, and bless us for our efforts.

I got to see Emma this Sunday!! She came to church to see me before she goes back to college, and it was the best ever. Love you Emma<3

This church is true, and it is so simple. No matter who you are or what you've done, God only cares about who you can become. We put our friend Abraham on date ti be baptized on the 24th, and he is such an amazing example to everyone. He's done some bad things in his past, and it's been so cool to see the atonement of Jesus Christ change him completely. God knows our greatest potential.

Love you all!!
