Week 62: Occoquan River, Woodbridge, VA

 Buenas tardes!!

This week has been so great!! I feel like I'm finally over adjusting to the new area and we saw so many miracles!!

Here's some highlights:

- On Thursday we had service at a free healthcare clinic. We had to answer phones and contact people in spanish which was actually so fun jaja

- Friday we had a meeting for trainers and trainees, we had to drive 45 minutes away to Oakton, but it was so beautiful. Our area is kinda on the outskirts of the mission so we basically have to drive 30-40 minutes to get anywhere, but Virginia is just so beautiful I'm not even mad.
The meeting was fun, I gotta meet some of the other new missionaries, then are so cool! One is from Spain and the other is from Peru, it made me a little nervous speaking Spanish to them, but they were nice lol.

- Saturday we had a mini intercambio with our STLs. It's so fun because I used to be hermana Bolanders comp, but now we get to see each other all of the time. That night, hermana Temple and I were confirming with our friends for church, but no one was answering us.

We were going to go knock the door of a point that we had that we've never meet before, but while we were sitting in our car, a man came up to our car window. Hna temple jumped so big, but I rolled down the window and we found out that he was the guy that we came to meet! He was definitely drunk, but he was really nice and told us about his life and how he wants to change. He grew up on the streets of El Slavador, without parents. He said that when he was younger some guys killed his dad, and see he went after them and killed them. Crazy stuff. I could just feel when I was talking to him how tormented his soul was. He is looking for relief but doesn't know where to find it. He said he's atheist, because he doesn't understand how a loving God would let such bad things happen to him.
He asked us to share a scripture from the book of Mormon with him, and I felt prompted right away to read Alma 36, the conversion of Alma the younger.
As I was reading those verses to him I felt the spirit so strongly and I know that God wanted to help this man access the redeeming power of the atonement of Jesus Christ. It is never to late to change. No matter how far away from the path that this man might be. I am so grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ.

- As we were preparing to go to church on Sunday, we received a referral from Facebook of a guy named Rene that wanted to come to church! We sent him the info, and he told us that he would try to come but can't promise anything. No one of our other friends told us that they were going to come to church #theirghostingus, but I knew that we worked really hard that week and tried our best, so God would work the rest. 30 minutes before church started, we got a text from Rene saying that he was on his way! We got to church and he was there with a shirt and tie, and he told us how he hasn't been to church in over a year but he feels empty and wants to find more Joy through Christ. He talked to a lot of members, he participated in the Sunday school class, and in the end he asked if he could say something. He stood up and thanked everyone for being so nice and he said that he felt happy and that he will be here next week. I was shocked!!! Such an awesome miracle I know that God is in the details, and he gives us success when we try our best.

Have the best week!!
