Hola a todos!!
This week has had lots of ups and downs, but I'm really learning to trust in God and his power to do miracles in my life and the lives of my friends.
Here are some highlights/miracles from this week:
- We had a lesson with our recent convert Milton, he was going to move to California next Monday, but he found a better job here so he's staying!!
- We went to district council in Sudley this Wednesday, and afterwards I had an exchange with hermana Montalvo. She is so great, the exchange was so fun. We were in a park contacting some friends on Facebook, when dark clouds started to roll in really fast. We decided that we should probably go back to our car, but we talked to a kid in the playground first. As we were talking to the kid it started DOWNPOURING on us. I mean like buckets of water falling from the sky. Hermana Montalvo was trying to teach the kid about Jesus with water running down her face, and I was just laughing the whole contact. The rain got even heavier and that kid said, "uhh I think I should go home" we said yeah you’re right and we ran the other way back to our car. It was no use though, we already looked like we just jumped in a pool. I love the rain haha.
- Thursday we had zone conference, it was great we really learned about how to apply the doctrine of Christ to everything.
Thursdays night we had a lesson scheduled with Pilar y Beymar. We were so excited because we haven't had a lesson in over a week with them. As we were on the way to the lesson, we got a call from Beymar and we were so scared that he was going to cancel. We pulled over to call him back, and I said, "he's probably just calling to tell us how excited he is to see us.." and my comp said, "yeah or to ask us if we have already eaten.." we didn't really believe what we were saying because they have canceled the lessons so often, but we called them back and they said that they were just calling to see if we were still coming and to ask if we wanted pizza. We were in shock, and I learned from this experience that words and positive attitudes really do matter, they make all the difference.
- We had a "mini mission" with the youth Friday night, and it was fun to help them have good experiences with missionary work!
- ok so basically we didn't have any food in our apartment this week because we didn't get groceries last p-day, and by the time that Saturday came around, we were veryyy low on food options. But God always provides, and one of our members invited us over to eat flautas (because she remembered that I love flautas). It was something so small, but it helped remind me that God is aware of all of our needs.
- Sunday was sad, none of our friends came to church after confirming with all of them. We're not sure what happened with any of them, but it's just so hard when I love them so much and want them to progress and get baptized, and then they just don't act on their faith. But it means that there is more work to do, and I know God has a plan for us and this area.
Anyways, I was feeling all sad and down about our friends not coming to church, but then I read in Mormon 9:18-21, it says,
18 And who shall say that Jesus Christ did not do many mighty miracles? And there were many mighty miracles wrought by the hands of the apostles.
19 And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be a God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being? And behold, I say unto you he changeth not; if so he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles.
20 And the reason why he ceaseth to do miracles among the children of men is because that they dwindle in unbelief, and depart from the right way, and know not the God in whom they should trust.
21 Behold, I say unto you that whoso believeth in Christ, doubting nothing, whatsoever he shall ask the Father in the name of Christ it shall be granted him; and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth.
I know that God is a God of miracles. He was he is, and he always will be. I am so grateful for all of the miracles that I have seen in my life, and I know that he has all the power to change the hearts of his children.
I'm excited for all of the miracles to come.
Love you!
